Frequently Asked Questions — Custom Timber Windows & Doors
1. What is the lead time from quote to delivery?
Our joinery is custom-made to order.
Lead time is approximately 4 weeks from quote acceptance and confirmation of details.
Once you accept your quote, we will provide a firm delivery timeframe specific to your project.
2. Do you install the joinery, or is it supply only?
We are supply-only manufacturers.
Installation is completed by licensed builders on site.
Your quote will specify everything included in the supply package.
3. What finishing and maintenance does timber joinery require?
To protect your joinery and maintain warranty:
✔ Apply two top coats of quality paint/sealer to all six surfaces before exposure to weather
✔ Seal top and bottom end grains immediately
✔ Avoid dark exterior colours (LRV below 45%), as these may cause excessive movement
✔ Clean surfaces annually with mild detergent
✔ Re-coat when wear becomes visible
Correct finishing and maintenance ensure long-term performance.
4. What warranty do you offer?
We provide a 5-year warranty against failure of materials and workmanship (excluding glazing and hardware supplied/installed by sub-trades).
The warranty remains valid only when joinery is:
• Finished and sealed before exposure to weather
• Installed correctly by a qualified builder
• Maintained ongoing as recommended
5. Are your products compliant with NZ building standards and weather performance?
Yes.
Our joinery is tested to hurricane-force wind and rain and complies with New Zealand performance requirements, including NZS 4211 for weathertight timber joinery.
6. What timber species do you use?
We use durable timber suited for New Zealand conditions, including:
• Yellow Cedar — paint finish doors and sashes
• Western Red Cedar — stain finish doors and sashes
• Radiata Pine — frames
Your quote will specify the exact timber used.
7. Can I see previous work before ordering?
Yes — you are welcome to book a visit to our Mt Roskill showroom to view completed projects.
We can also share recent installation photos and examples for villas, bungalows, and new builds.
8. How do I compare quotes between different suppliers?
A complete joinery quote should include:
• Size and configuration
• Timber species
• Glass type
• Finish (paint or stain)
• Delivery or site pickup
If something is missing or unclear, ask us — we are happy to explain.
9. What after-sales support do you provide?
Timber joinery may require occasional adjustment as part of natural seasonal movement.
If you need assistance, we’re available to help with advice and service guidance.
10. Is timber joinery suitable for my architectural style?
Yes — timber can be tailored to suit heritage villas, bungalows, coastal homes, and contemporary architecture.
Profile, finish, hardware and glazing will be customised to match your home and your design vision.
